Turning an agent on or off, renaming & deleting Guide

Toggle an agent on or off, rename it, or delete it from its header — and understand why an agent that's off never runs.

Every agent has a header at the top of its detail page where you can control its most basic settings: whether it's on or off, what it's called, and whether it stays in your workspace at all. This guide walks through each action and explains what turning an agent off actually does.

Turning an agent on or off

Each agent has an on/off switch in its header. This is the master control for whether the agent is active.

  1. Open the agent from your agents list.
  2. Find the on/off toggle in the header at the top of the page.
  3. Click it to switch the agent on or off. The change takes effect right away.

When an agent is on, it runs on its schedule and responds to the triggers you've set up. When an agent is off, it stays exactly as you've built it, but it won't do any work.

Why an agent that's off won't run

Turning an agent off pauses all of its activity. While it's off:

  • It won't run on any schedule you've set.
  • It won't react to its triggers, even if the event that would normally start it happens.
  • It won't send you notifications or produce new deliveries.

Everything the agent knows is preserved — its instructions, tools, skills, knowledge, files, and secrets all stay in place. Switching it back on resumes normal operation without any rebuilding.

Tip: Turning an agent off is the safest way to pause its work while you review results, make changes, or step away. Unlike deleting, it's fully reversible — flip the switch back on whenever you're ready.

Renaming an agent

You can give an agent a clearer name at any time without affecting how it works.

  1. Open the agent and look at its name in the header.
  2. Select the name to edit it.
  3. Type the new name and save.

Renaming only changes the label you see. The agent keeps all of its configuration and history, and any work in progress continues uninterrupted. Choose a name that describes what the agent does — for example, the job it handles or the team it supports — so it's easy to find as your workspace grows.

Deleting an agent

If you no longer need an agent, you can remove it from your workspace using the delete option in its header.

  1. Open the agent you want to remove.
  2. Open the actions in the header and choose to delete the agent.
  3. Confirm when prompted.

Deleting is permanent. Once an agent is deleted, it stops running and can't be brought back, so it's worth pausing rather than deleting if there's any chance you'll want it again.

Before you delete

  • Save anything you want to keep. If the agent has produced reports, images, or other output you still need, download those files first — they're available on the agent's Files tab and on the Deliveries tab.
  • Consider turning it off instead. If you only want to stop the agent for now, switch it off. It stays in your workspace, ready to resume.
  • Check what depends on it. Make sure no workflow or teammate is relying on this agent before removing it.

Note: Deleting an agent removes that agent only. Connected accounts and integrations stay connected to your workspace and remain available to your other agents.

In most cases, turning an agent off is the better first step. It's instant, reversible, and keeps everything intact — you can always delete later once you're sure you're done.
