Disconnecting an app (and what happens to your data) Guide

How to disconnect an app in Praxivara, and why it only removes the assistant's access — your account and data stay with the provider.

Disconnecting an app removes Praxivara's access to it. Your account with that provider — and all the data inside it — stays exactly where it is. This article walks through how to disconnect, what changes afterward, and how to reconnect if you need to.

What disconnecting does

When you disconnect an app, you revoke the access you granted during setup. After that:

  • The assistant can no longer read from or act in that app on your behalf.
  • Any of that app's actions stop being available in chat and to your agents.
  • If the app could start an agent automatically, those automatic starts stop too.

In short, disconnecting closes the door between Praxivara and the app. It does not reach into the app itself.

What disconnecting does not do

Disconnecting is a permissions change, not a deletion. It leaves the following untouched:

  • Your account with the provider. Your login, subscription, and settings in the other app are unaffected.
  • Your data in that app. Emails, contacts, records, files, orders, and everything else remain in the provider's system.
  • Work already completed. Anything the assistant did while connected — messages sent, records updated, files created — stays in place in the app, just as it would if a teammate had done it.

Think of connecting and disconnecting like handing over and taking back a key. Taking the key back doesn't change what's inside the room.

How to disconnect an app

  1. Open the Integrations page from your workspace.
  2. Find the app you want to disconnect. You can search by name or filter by category if you have several connections.
  3. Open the app's card to view its connection details.
  4. Choose the option to disconnect the connection.
  5. Confirm when prompted. The app will then show as available rather than connected.

If you connected more than one account for the same app, you can disconnect a single account and leave the others in place. Removing the account you marked as primary lets you promote another connected account afterward.

Fully removing access on the provider's side

Disconnecting in Praxivara ends the connection from our side. For most apps, that is all you need.

If you'd also like to confirm the removal from the provider's end — for example, an app you signed into through a provider consent screen — you can review and revoke connected apps in that provider's own account or security settings. This is optional and handled entirely within the other service.

For connections you set up with a key or credential, disconnecting stops Praxivara from using it. If you'd like an extra layer of assurance, you can rotate or revoke that key in the provider's dashboard.

Reconnecting later

Disconnecting is not permanent. You can reconnect the same app whenever you like:

  1. Return to the Integrations page and open the app's card.
  2. Choose Connect and complete the sign-in, authorization, or credential step again.
  3. Review which actions the assistant is allowed to perform, and enable the ones you want.

Because a fresh connection starts clean, take a moment to re-check the enabled actions so the assistant has exactly the access you intend — no more, no less.

Good reasons to disconnect

  • You no longer use the app and want to keep your workspace tidy.
  • You're switching to a different account for the same service.
  • You want to pause the assistant's access temporarily while you review a workflow.
  • You'd rather narrow what the assistant can do — in which case you can also keep the app connected and simply adjust its enabled actions instead of disconnecting entirely.

Tip: If your goal is to limit the assistant rather than cut it off completely, you don't have to disconnect. You can keep the connection and turn individual actions on or off from the app's connection settings.

Whichever route you choose, the principle stays the same: you're in control of the assistant's access, and changing it never puts your data at risk.
