Slash commands are shortcuts that let you jump straight to a specific kind of request without writing a full sentence. Type / in the message composer and a menu of commands appears, so you can create a task, set a reminder, generate an image, or build a file in a couple of keystrokes.

How slash commands work

  1. Place your cursor in the message composer and type /.
  2. A list of available commands appears. Keep typing to filter it (for example, type /im to narrow to /image).
  3. Select a command with your mouse, or use the arrow keys and press Enter.
  4. Finish your request in plain language after the command, then send the message.

A slash command simply tells the assistant what you want up front. You still describe the details in your own words, and the assistant replies in a streaming answer just like any other chat.

Tip: You never have to use slash commands. Plain requests like "Remind me to call the supplier at 4pm" work just as well. Slash commands are there when you want to move faster.

The available commands

Here is what each command is for and an example of how to use it.

CommandWhat it doesExample
/taskCreates a task or to-do for you to track./task Follow up with the design vendor by Friday

Creating tasks, reminders, and notes fast

The /task, /reminder, /note, and /schedule commands are the quickest way to capture work while you are thinking about it. Type the command, describe the item, and the assistant records it for you.

You can include timing and detail directly in the same message. For example, /reminder Send the contract to legal on Monday morning captures both what to do and when. The assistant confirms what it created so you can check the details at a glance.

Creating files and images fast

Use /image, /excel, and /pdf when you want a finished deliverable rather than just an answer. The assistant builds the file in the chat, shows you a preview, and gives you a download option.

Be specific about what you need. The more context you provide about audience, tone, and content, the closer the first result will be. You can always ask for changes in a follow-up message, and the assistant will revise the file.

Searching for live information

Use /search when your question depends on current information rather than general knowledge. The assistant looks up live sources and summarizes what it finds, so it is well suited to news, recent developments, and up-to-date facts.

When the assistant asks you to confirm

If a command leads to an action that reaches the outside world, such as sending a message or making a change in a connected app, the assistant shows an Approve card first. Nothing is sent or changed until you confirm, so you stay in control of every outbound action.

Note: Slash commands are a starting point, not a limit. After you send one, you can keep the conversation going naturally, ask for revisions, or combine several requests in one message.
