The browser view isn't loading, or it says the browser has closed

The browser view lives in the Computer panel beside the chat, and it opens by itself the moment the assistant starts a browser task. If it is showing a message rather than a live page, here is what each one means and what to do about it.

It says "Opening the browser…"

A spinner and Opening the browser… means the browser is still starting up. Give it a moment and the live page appears on its own. The status chip in the header reads Starting while this is happening.

"The live view disconnected."

The live picture dropped. Press Reconnect. If the browser is still running, that simply picks the picture back up where it was.

This is about the view, not the job. The task does not depend on you watching it — the assistant comes back into the chat with the outcome as a new message when it is finished, whether or not the panel is showing.

"The live view keeps dropping. Reconnect to pick it back up."

Same first move: press Reconnect. If the picture still will not settle, press Stop and ask the assistant for the task again. A new browser opens, still signed in to the sites you have saved, on the page it was last on.

"That browser has closed."

That browser is gone. Press Reconnect and one comes back, on your saved sign-ins and the page you were last using. When that works you will see "Reopened your browser where you left it."

If the panel instead reads "That browser has closed. Ask the assistant to open a new one." or "Couldn't reopen the browser. Ask the assistant to start one.", do exactly that: ask in the chat for what you wanted done, and a new browser opens.

"Your computer is asleep."

This one is not a fault. After a stretch with nobody using it, the browser puts itself to sleep, and the panel shows a moon with a second line naming the site it will wake up on, still signed in.

Press Wake it up, or simply ask the assistant for the next thing and it wakes the browser itself. Either way it wakes up where you left it, still signed in, and you will see "Woke your computer up where you left it."

I closed the panel — how do I get it back?

The panel is not opened from a menu or a button elsewhere in the app, and there is no keyboard shortcut. Two things bring it back:

• The card in the conversation for that browser run. Its button reads Watch while the assistant is working, Open when you are the one driving, Wake when the browser is asleep, and Reopen once it has ended.
• Asking for something new on the web. The panel opens by itself whenever a browser task starts.

Closing the panel does not stop anything. Only Stop ends a run.

The chat will not let me send a message

While a browser task is running, the composer is held. The placeholder reads Working in the browser…, the send button is replaced by Stop, and trying to send shows "Still working in the browser — one moment."

That is expected: one browser task runs at a time. Wait for the assistant to come back with the outcome, which arrives as a new message on its own, or press Stop if you want to end the run now.

The panel looks different on a smaller screen

It is meant to. On a wide screen the panel sits beside the conversation, and there is an expand control in the header (Expand, then Shrink) that widens it and tucks the side navigation away to make room. Your choice is remembered on that device.

On a narrower screen the panel slides over the conversation instead, with the chat dimmed behind it, and tapping the dimmed area closes it. The expand control is not shown there at all, which is normal rather than a missing button. On a phone the panel takes the full width.

If it is still not right

1. Press Reconnect once more.
2. If that does not help, press Stop to close the browser.
3. Ask the assistant for the task again. A new browser opens, still signed in to the sites you have saved.

Note: waking, and reopening after a browser has closed, both start a new browser rather than reviving the old one — but your saved sign-ins come with it. You will not have to sign in again, and it comes back on the page you were using.
