Setting your time zone Guide

Set your time zone in your profile so reminders, scheduling, and the assistant's sense of "today" and "tomorrow" all line up with your local clock.

Your time zone is one of the most useful details in your profile. It tells Praxivara what your local clock reads, so scheduling, reminders, and everyday phrases like "today" and "tomorrow" resolve to the times you actually mean.

Why your time zone matters

The assistant works with dates and times constantly: setting reminders, scheduling follow-ups, and reasoning about deadlines. Without a time zone, it has no reliable anchor for what "now" means to you.

When your time zone is set correctly:

  • Reminders fire at the local time you expect, not hours early or late.
  • Scheduled tasks and follow-ups land on the right day.
  • Relative dates are interpreted from your local clock, so "end of day" means the end of your day.

How the assistant interprets "today" and "tomorrow"

When you say something like "remind me tomorrow morning" or "send this by end of day today," the assistant needs to know which calendar day you are on. It uses your profile time zone to decide.

For example, if you are in a time zone where it is already late evening, "tomorrow" refers to the next calendar day in your location, even if it is still earlier in the day elsewhere. Setting your time zone removes that ambiguity so requests resolve the way you intend.

Tip: If reminders or scheduled items keep arriving at the wrong hour, an unset or outdated time zone is the most common cause. Check it first before adjusting individual tasks.

Set your time zone

You can update your time zone at any time from your profile:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Go to the Profile tab.
  3. Find the Time zone field and choose the zone that matches where you work.
  4. Save your changes.

Your new time zone applies going forward across scheduling, reminders, and how the assistant reads relative dates.

Keeping it current when you travel or relocate

Your time zone does not follow you automatically. If you move or spend an extended period in a different region, update the field so scheduling stays accurate. For a short trip where you still want everything anchored to your home schedule, you can leave it unchanged.

Time zone and your other profile details

Time zone lives alongside the rest of your profile, including your name, occupation, and organization details. All of these fields are optional and exist to give the assistant helpful context about you and your work. Time zone is the one field that most directly affects timing, so it is worth setting even if you skip the others.

Keep in mind that the organization details in your profile describe your background for context. They are separate from your actual workspace and team membership, which are managed elsewhere.

Best practices

  • Set your time zone before you rely on reminders or scheduled tasks, so the first ones you create are already accurate.
  • If you regularly work with people in other regions, keep your own time zone set to your primary working location and let the assistant translate for others when you ask.
  • When a scheduled item seems off by a fixed number of hours, revisit your time zone before troubleshooting anything else.
