Your password is one of the ways you sign in to Praxivara. This guide covers setting a password for the first time on a Google-only account, changing an existing one, and what happens to your other devices when you do.
Set your first password
If you created your account with Google sign-in, you may not have a password yet. Setting one lets you sign in with your email and password in addition to Google — and it's required before you can change your login email or disconnect Google.
- Open Settings and go to the Security tab.
- Find the Sign-in section and choose Set password.
- Enter a new password that meets the strength rules, then confirm it.
- Save. You can now sign in with your email and password, and your Google sign-in continues to work too.
Change an existing password
Rotate your password any time you want a fresh one — for example, if you think it may have been exposed, or as routine account hygiene.
- Open Settings and go to the Security tab.
- In the Sign-in section, choose Change password.
- Enter your current password to confirm it's you.
- Enter your new password, then type it again to confirm.
- Save your changes.
Tip: Use a password manager to generate and store a strong, unique password. That way you never have to remember it, and it's far harder to guess or reuse across sites.
Password strength rules
To keep your account secure, a password must contain all of the following:
- At least 8 characters
- At least one lowercase letter
- At least one uppercase letter
- At least one number
If your new password is rejected, check it against this list. The most common reasons a save fails are a password that's too short or missing one of the required character types, or a new password and confirmation that don't match.
Why changing your password signs out other devices
When you change your password, Praxivara signs out every other device and browser where your account is active. This is intentional: if someone else had access, this immediately locks them out.
The browser you're using to make the change stays signed in, so you won't interrupt your current session. On your other devices, you'll simply be asked to sign in again with your new password the next time you use them.
Note: If you ever want to review or end sessions without changing your password, you can see and sign out active devices from the Security tab in Settings.
Troubleshooting
"Current password is incorrect"
Double-check that you're entering the password you sign in with today, not the new one you're trying to set. Watch for Caps Lock and any leading or trailing spaces.
My password keeps getting rejected
Make sure it meets every rule above — at least 8 characters with a lowercase letter, an uppercase letter, and a number — and that the confirmation field matches exactly.
I don't see a "Change password" option
If your account was created with Google sign-in and has no password yet, you'll see Set password instead. Set one first; after that, the option to change it will appear.
I was unexpectedly signed out on my phone or another computer
This is expected after a password change. Sign in again on that device using your new password.
Related security steps
A password is one layer of protection. For stronger account security, consider turning on two-factor authentication so a second step is required at sign-in, and save your backup codes so you're never locked out. Both are available in the Security tab of Settings.
