Your Praxivara password protects everything in your account, so it needs to meet a few strength rules. This article lists those rules and shows you how to fix a password that gets rejected when you set or change it.
Password strength rules
Every Praxivara password must meet all of the following:
- At least 8 characters long
- At least one lowercase letter (a–z)
- At least one uppercase letter (A–Z)
- At least one number (0–9)
If any one of these is missing, the password is rejected and your change is not saved. A longer passphrase that combines all four is both easier to remember and harder to guess.
Tip: A short phrase with a capital letter and a number — something only you would write — is usually stronger and more memorable than a random string. Avoid reusing a password from another service.
Set or change your password
- Open Settings and go to the Security tab.
- In the sign-in section, choose Change password (or Set password if your account was created with Google sign-in and doesn't have one yet).
- Enter your current password, if you have one.
- Enter your new password, then re-enter it to confirm.
- Save your changes.
When you change an existing password, you stay signed in on the browser you're using, and every other signed-in device is signed out. This is a deliberate safeguard, so if you ever suspect your password was exposed, changing it also locks out anyone else.
Why a password was rejected
Most rejected passwords come down to one of a few causes:
It doesn't meet the strength rules
Check the new password against the four rules above. The most common miss is leaving out an uppercase letter or a number, or a password that is fewer than 8 characters. Adjust it so all four boxes are ticked, then try again.
The two entries don't match
The new password and the confirmation must be identical. A stray space or a different capital letter will cause a mismatch. Retype both fields carefully — you can usually reveal the characters as you type to double-check.
Your current password is incorrect
If you're changing an existing password, you'll be asked to enter the current one first. An “Current password is incorrect” message means that field doesn't match what's on file. Confirm you're entering your existing password (not the new one), and watch for Caps Lock.
If you can't remember your current password
If you're already signed in but no longer know your current password, sign out and use the password reset link on the sign-in screen. You'll receive a link at your account email that lets you set a new password — subject to the same strength rules — without needing the old one.
Note: Accounts that sign in with Google don't have a password until you set one. If you want to sign in with email and password too — or plan to disconnect Google sign-in — set a password first from the Security tab.
Keep your account secure
A strong password is the first layer of protection. For an extra layer, turn on two-factor authentication from the same Security tab so a stolen password alone can't get into your account. You can also review and sign out other active devices there at any time.
