AI features in your app and what they cost
What your app can ask AI to do, who is billed, and where to see the usage.

On this page
Your app can call AI directly: categorise a support message, summarise a document, read a receipt, generate a poster. Ask for the feature and the builder writes it: when a support message arrives, categorise it and set a priority.
Who pays
AI features are billed to you in credits, never to your app's users. Each app has its own line on the Usage page. See Seeing where your credits went.
Keeping it sensible
- AI calls need a signed-in user by default, so they sit behind a login or on an admin screen.
- They run on a button press, with a loading state, never every time a page loads.
- If a call cannot run, for example because your balance is spent, the app tells the person plainly instead of retrying.
Using your own key
If you would rather pay your AI provider directly, see Using your own OpenAI or Anthropic key.
