Fixing a full storage / failed upload Troubleshooting

When an upload fails or an agent stalls because storage is full, here's how to free space or add more so work continues.

If a file won't upload or an agent stops partway through saving its work, the usual cause is that your account has reached its storage limit. New files can't be saved until you free up space or add more. This article walks you through confirming the problem and resolving it in a few minutes.

Confirm that storage is the cause

Start by checking your storage meter so you know exactly where you stand.

  1. Open Settings and go to the Usage tab.
  2. Find the storage meter, which shows how much space you're using against your total quota.
  3. Look at the progress bar. It turns amber when you pass roughly 80% and red when you're full.

If the bar is red or you see a storage-full warning, that's why your upload or agent stalled. You can also simply ask the assistant something like "how much storage am I using?" or "am I full?" to get the exact figures.

Tip: A failed upload doesn't harm anything already saved. Once you free space or add more, you can retry the upload and it will go through normally.

Option 1: Free up space

The Usage page includes a breakdown of what's consuming your storage, grouped by source — such as chats, agents, channels, mail, voice recordings, uploads, and generated files — with the largest items listed first.

  1. On the Usage tab, expand the storage breakdown.
  2. Review the sources at the top of the list, since those are holding the most.
  3. Use the links to open an item directly and confirm you no longer need it.
  4. Delete the chat, agent, file, or recording you want to remove.

Deleting the underlying item frees its space immediately, so your meter drops right away and you can retry your upload.

Good things to clear first

  • Old voice recordings and generated files you've already downloaded or no longer need.
  • Completed or abandoned agents that are holding attached files.
  • Large uploads from finished projects.
  • Archived chats that contain heavy attachments.

Option 2: Add more storage

If everything you're storing is still needed, you can increase your quota instead of deleting anything.

  1. Go to the Billing page.
  2. Choose a storage add-on to increase your total quota.
  3. Confirm the change. Your new quota applies right away, and your storage meter will reflect the higher limit.

Higher plans include a larger storage allowance to begin with, so if you regularly run close to your limit, upgrading your plan can be a better long-term fit than repeatedly adding storage.

Retry the upload or restart the agent

Once your meter shows headroom again, return to what you were doing:

  • For a failed upload, try adding the file again.
  • For an agent that stalled, run it again so it can finish saving its work.

If the same file still won't upload even though you now have space, check that it isn't unusually large on its own, and try again in a moment.

Stay ahead of it next time

The storage meter warns you at around 80% full, well before you hit the limit, so you have time to act before an upload fails. Make a habit of glancing at the Usage tab when you see the amber warning, and clear out recordings and generated files you've already saved elsewhere. If your work naturally produces a lot of files, adding storage or moving to a plan with a larger allowance keeps everything running without interruption.
