With Praxivara Phone, your rented numbers do more than answer incoming calls — they can place outbound AI calls too. This article covers how to pick the number those calls come from and how to ask your assistant or an agent to make a call.

Before you begin

To place outbound AI calls you'll need at least one rented number on your account. If you haven't rented one yet, open Praxivara Phone, search for an available number by country, area code, or the digits it contains, and buy it. Once a number is on your account, it can be used for outbound calling.

Tip: Give each number a clear label (for example, "Sales line" or "Support") so it's easy to recognize when you choose which one to call from.

Set your default outbound number

If you have more than one rented number, you can designate one as the default for outbound calls. When you or an agent place a call without specifying a number, this default is the one that's used — and it's the caller ID your contact sees.

  1. Open Praxivara Phone.
  2. Select the number you want to use for outbound calls.
  3. Mark it as the default outbound number.

You can change the default at any time by selecting a different number and marking it as the default instead. If you only have one number, it's used automatically.

Have your assistant place a call

The simplest way to make an outbound AI call is to ask your assistant in chat. Describe who to call and what the call is about, and the assistant places the call using your default outbound number.

  • "Call Jordan at the number on file and confirm tomorrow's 2pm appointment."
  • "Phone the supplier and ask whether the order shipped, then let me know what they say."

Give the assistant a phone number or a contact it can reach, along with the goal of the call. After the call, the assistant reports back on how it went.

Have an agent place a call

AI agents can also place outbound calls as part of their work — for example, an agent that follows up with leads or confirms bookings. When you build or configure an agent that needs to call out, it uses your default outbound number unless you point it at a specific one. Connect the outbound calling capability to the agent, and describe in the agent's instructions when and whom it should call.

How outbound calls are billed

Outbound AI calling is billed by the minute, similar to voice calls. Your plan sets a monthly allowance for outbound calling, and calls also draw on your available credits. If you reach your plan's monthly outbound limit or run low on credits, new outbound calls are paused until the next cycle or until you top up.

Troubleshooting

The call won't go through

Check that you have a rented number on your account and that a default outbound number is set. If you've hit your plan's monthly outbound-call limit, or your credits are running low, outbound calls are paused until that clears.

The wrong number shows as caller ID

Outbound calls use your default outbound number unless a specific number is chosen. Open Praxivara Phone and confirm which number is marked as the default, then update it if needed.

An agent isn't calling out

Make sure the agent has outbound calling connected and that its instructions clearly describe when to place a call and whom to reach. As with the assistant, agent calls also respect your plan's outbound limit and credit balance.

Note: Releasing a number stops billing for it and removes it from outbound use. If that number was your default or one an agent relied on, set a new default afterward so outbound calls keep working.
