When you chat with your Praxivara assistant from your own phone, you're messaging a specific number or bot handle for the channel you connected. This article shows you how to confirm exactly which one you're talking to and how to check that the channel is actually connected.
Find the number or handle in the Channels panel
Every messaging channel you set up has its own destination, and the Channels panel is where you can see it.
- In the Praxivara web app, open the Continue on your phone / Channels panel.
- Select the channel you want to check — Messages, iMessage, WhatsApp, or Telegram.
- Read the number or bot handle shown on that channel's screen. This is the exact destination your messages are going to.
For Messages, iMessage, and WhatsApp, you'll see a phone number. For Telegram, you'll see the bot you press Start on rather than a phone number.
Tip: The number or handle shown in the Channels panel is the only correct destination. If a message on your phone was going somewhere else, save that thread's contact and compare it against what the panel displays.
Confirm the channel is actually connected
A connected channel reports its own status, so you don't have to guess.
- In the Channels panel, a connected channel shows Active.
- During setup, the connect screen watches for your message and switches to Active on its own once it detects you. If it still says something like Waiting for your message…, your message hasn't been received yet.
- The simplest live test: send any message to the assistant on that channel. If you get a reply in the same thread, you're connected.
If it still says it's waiting
If you sent the keyword or scanned the code but the screen keeps waiting, the connect code or QR may have expired before your message arrived. Return to the Channels panel, start the connection again to get a fresh code or QR, and send the pre-filled message right away.
Verify with a quick round-trip test
The most reliable confirmation is a two-way exchange:
- From your phone, send a short message like
helloon the channel. - Wait for the assistant to reply in that same thread.
- Open your Praxivara chat on the web — the message you just sent should appear there too.
Because a connected phone channel syncs back to your web chat, seeing the same message in both places confirms both the destination and the connection in one step.
Messaging more than one channel or phone
You can connect several channels at once, and each keeps its own number or handle. iMessage also lets you connect more than one phone. When you have multiple channels active, always confirm the specific one you're using in the Channels panel, since each has a different destination.
Managing the connection
- Start a fresh conversation: text
new chaton the channel to begin a new thread instead of continuing the current one. - Disconnect: text
STOPon the channel, or disconnect it from the Channels panel when you no longer want it. - Remove one of several phones: manage connected phones from the channel's screen in the Channels panel.
If a channel doesn't appear
If a channel isn't listed as an option, or you see a Not available yet message when connecting, that channel may not be available on your plan or may not be enabled for your account. Any channel that does appear in your Channels panel is one you can connect and confirm using the steps above.
